Flexitricity hits milestone as first aggregator to selected for new industry leading Flexibility code of conduct and compliance scheme

Edinburgh based flexible energy specialist Flexitricity has hit an important milestone in becoming the first aggregator to be selected and pass the periodic audit requirements for industry leading flexibility code of conduct and compliance scheme, Flex Assure.

Flex Assure is a voluntary scheme, established by the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE) in 2019, which sets out minimum standards of practice for flexibility services providers, also known as 'aggregators', offering energy flexibility services to business customers, including access to the Capacity Market and Balancing Services.

Flexitricity is the first accredited Flex Assure Scheme Member to complete all stages of the first periodic audit.

The milestone is another first for the flexible energy specialist which has generated over £52 million for its energy partners since it started live operations. It was the first supplier in the UK to provide full, active participation in the Balancing Mechanism for demand response assets.

The Edinburgh-headquartered business has over 750 MW under management – a virtual power station helping National Grid meet the energy demands of the UK.

By setting standards for and monitoring practice across technical due diligence and site visits, sales and marketing, proposals and pre-contractual information, customer contracts and complaints, Flex Assure ensures that business energy users receive a strong standard of service from companies signed up to the Scheme.

This is vital for the rapidly developing energy flexibility marketplace – by providing a promise of quality and a set of common standards against which to compare providers, the scheme builds trust, confidence and certainty for prospective flexibility customers, guaranteeing that they will receive high-quality service from any registered Scheme Member.

Andy Lowe, Chief Commercial Officer Flexitricity commented: “Flexitricity is delighted to become the first accredited member of the scheme to pass the audit requirements. Maintaining high standards for our energy partners and ensuring a transparent and honest process is of the utmost importance to Flexitricity. We are proud to lead by example and will continue to prioritise the very highest standard of customer engagement”

Dr Caroline Sejer Damgaard, Flex Assure Scheme Administrator, said: “I would like to congratulate Flexitricity on passing the Flex Assure compliance audit, demonstrating Flexitricity’s commitment to customer service and best practice in their engagement with energy partners.

“Conducting the first Flex Assure compliance audit has been a very successful experience, solidifying Flex Assure’s role in monitoring Members’ compliance with the industry leading standards of practice set out in the Flex Assure Code of Conduct. We have greatly appreciated Flexitricity’s collaboration throughout the process, and congratulate the team on successfully passing the Audit.”

The Flex Assure scheme is open to all flexibility services providers – to become members, businesses must demonstrate that they comply with the Code. The Flex Assure Mark, provided to Members, is a mark of trust and integrity which indicates to the wider market a company’s commitment to best practice.
