Flexitricity Limited was established in 2004 to develop new ways of matching electricity supply to demand, thereby reducing energy costs and improving the environmental performance of the electricity industry.

Flexitricity operates a “virtual power station”, composed of small generators and electricity loads located on industrial and commercial sites.  Flexitricity uses internet communications to turn down electricity consumption, and run generation, for short periods when the national electricity system is under stress.

Flexitricity’s “demand-side” service is faster, cleaner and cheaper than reserve provided by large power stations on hot standby, or running inefficiently at part load.

Flexitricity is unique in the world.  Its live aggregation approach allows it to work with generators and loads that otherwise could not earn revenue from reserve services.  Flexitricity’s patented technology makes it possible for energy users to carry on with core business, while helping make the electricity industry greener and more secure.
